Contaminantes da Cadeia Alimentar

O Painel dos Contaminantes da Cadeia Alimentar (CONTAM) fornece aconselhamento científico sobre contaminantes na cadeia alimentar e substâncias indesejáveis, como substâncias tóxicas naturais, micotoxinas e resíduos de substâncias não autorizadas.

Os membros do Painel CONTAM são cientistas de toda a Europa com experiência em:

  • Química: química orgânica, química inorgânica, química analítica, processamento de alimentos e rações no âmbito dos contaminantes químicos.
  • Avaliação da exposição: são necessários conhecimentos especializados, especialmente em relação à avaliação da exposição alimentar a contaminantes químicos, assim como conhecimentos sobre inquéritos de consumo de alimentos.
  • Toxicologia humana e veterinária (na avaliação do risco de substâncias químicas): absorção, distribuição, metabolismo e excreção (ADME) de substâncias (toxicocinética e toxicodinâmica), toxicidade subcrónica e crónica (estudos de dose repetida), genotoxicidade e mutagenicidade, toxicidade reprodutiva e do desenvolvimento, carcinogenicidade, alergenicidade e imunotoxicidade.
  • Testes toxicológicos em animais para experiências: interpretar os efeitos tóxicos de contaminantes químicos em animais de criação e de estimação.
  • Epidemiologia: biomarcadores dos efeitos e da exposição e interpretação dos dados humanos.
  • Estatística: avaliação dos efeitos da relação dose-resposta, por exemplo, modelagem da dose de referência e análise de conjuntos de dados (epidemiológicos) complexos.
  • Nutrição animal: avaliação da exposição animal.
