Webinar on the Open MCRA tool for prospective cumulative risk assessment
Background
EFSA and RIVM are collaborating to implement dietary risk assessment of combined exposure to multiple pesticides using the Monte Carlo Risk Assessment (MCRA) tool. This type of risk assessment is also referred to as cumulative risk assessment (CRA) or mixture risk assessment (MRA).
A distinction is made between retrospective CRA, which aims to estimate potential risks for specific populations over a recent past period, and prospective CRA, which focuses on estimating potential risks in the context of pesticide approvals, product authorisations, or the setting of maximum residue levels (MRLs).This informative stakeholder webinar will focus on prospective CRA methodology and its application using the MCRA tool.
Objectives of the event
The main objective of the webinar is to:
- Provide an overview of EFSA’s ongoing activities on the cumulative risk assessment of pesticides
- Offer insights into both retrospective and prospective CRA methodologies
- Demonstrate how prospective CRA can be performed using the MCRA tool
Please note that the scientific and technical features of prospective CRA methodology, as well as its legal implementation, will not be addressed during this session.
Who should attend?
The MCRA tool is a freely accessible, web-based software designed for regulatory users—namely competent authorities and/or food safety authorities in EU Member States—to support the efficient and transparent implementation of CRA within the EU regulatory framework.
This webinar also aims to inform other interested stakeholders.
