Pericole biologice
Grupul pentru pericole biologice (BIOHAZ) oferă consultanță științifică privind pericolele biologice în raport cu siguranța alimentară și cu toxiinfecțiile alimentare. Din acest domeniu fac parte bolile animale transmisibile la oameni, encefalopatiile spongiforme transmisibile, microbiologia alimentară, igiena alimentară și problemele conexe de gestionare a deșeurilor.
Membrii Grupului BIOHAZ sunt cercetători științifici din întreaga Europă specializați în:
- Epidemiologia zoonozelor alimentare (Salmonella, Campylobacter etc.)
- Rezistența la antimicrobiene
- Prelucrarea subproduselor de origine animală
- Virusuri cu transmitere prin alimente
- Inspecția cărnii de la toate speciile de la care se obțin produse alimentare
- Igienă și microbiologie alimentară
- Criterii microbiologice
- Riscurile biologice asociate cu produsele compuse și cu produsele proaspete
- Decontaminarea carcaselor de carne (tratamente antimicrobiene)
- Evaluarea calitativă a riscurilor microbiologice
- Encefalopatii spongiforme transmisibile (epidemiologie, patologie, diagnostic, evaluarea expunerii).

Networks
What are EFSA's networks?
EFSA’s networks consist of nationally appointed EU Member State organisations with expertise in the fields covered by the network. Representatives of the Commission and of other organisations (including those from outside the EU) with specific expertise may also be invited to participate in the work of EFSA Networks.
Networks are chaired by EFSA and supported by relevant EFSA units. Their aim is to facilitate scientific cooperation in the field of EFSA’s mission by:
- coordinating activities,
- exchanging information,
- developing and implementing joint projects,
- and exchanging expertise and best practices.

BSE-TSE
Set up to strengthen the scientific cooperation on BSE-TSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy and Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies) issues, reduce the duplication of activities and hence avoid divergence of opinion.
