Abstract

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) carried out a public consultation to receive input from the scientific community and all interested parties on the draft Guidance on technical requirements for regulated food and feed product applications to establish the presence of small particles including nanoparticles. The draft Guidance was developed by the Scientific Committee’s cross‐cutting Working Group on Nanotechnologies and endorsed by the Scientific Committee for public consultation on 23 June 2020, during its 99th plenary meeting. The public consultation for this document was open from 9 July to 9 September 2020. During this period, EFSA received contributions from 25 interested parties belonging to different sectors (e.g. industry associations, consultancy companies, EU institutions, national authorities, and individual scientists). EFSA and its Scientific Committee wish to thank all the stakeholders for their contributions. This report presents the comments received and addressed after consideration by the Scientific Committee’s cross‐cutting Working Group on Nanotechnologies and discussion at the 104th Scientific Committee plenary meeting of 30 June 2021.
