Abstract

To provide assistance to the SAS Unit of EFSA in the production of a standardised statistical programming practices document for SAS and R software packages this report proposes program templates and corresponding manuals for R and SAS.
The templates are part of recommendations that were developed based on the results of analysing the “current” statistical programming methods and practices at EFSA and other relevant resources like programming guidelines and software engineering principles and techniques. The templates complement a report describing guidelines on standardised programming practices.
Two templates are provided: an R function to create an R file as well as a SAS macro to create a SAS file containing the basic structure of the template programs with key pre-filled. A manual serves to explain the use and application of the templates.
