EFSA launches new webtool to calculate dietary exposure to food enzymes
EFSA has released an innovative new webtool designed to support industry operators and consumers estimate exposure Concentration or amount of a particular substance that is taken in by an individual, population or ecosystem in a specific frequency over a certain amount of time to food enzymes through the diet.

The Food Enzyme Intake Model (FEIM) webtool marks the culmination of an extensive effort initiated in 2016, bringing together data on the use of food enzymes in various manufacturing processes with information about the exposure of different population Community of humans, animals or plants from the same species groups to food enzymes.
Launched on the occasion of the first plenary meeting of EFSA’s new Food Enzymes (FEZ) Panel, the tool will enable users to obtain intake The amount of a substance (e.g. nutrient or chemical) that is ingested by a person or animal via the diet estimates for specific enzymes per manufacturing process and also to calculate cumulative exposure from multiple manufacturing processes simultaneously. It will not only support food enzyme A protein which stimulates or hastens a specific reaction in the body; for example, digestive enzymes help to break down food into nutrients manufacturers in compiling exposure data for application dossiers but also empower consumers with information on their dietary exposure For the purposes of risk assessment, measurement of the amount of a substance consumed by a person or animal in their diet that is intentionally added or unintentionally present (e.g. a nutrient, additive or pesticide) to food enzymes.
The FEIM webtool is freely accessible to anyone through the R4EU platform upon registration.
