Outcome of a public consultation on the Scientific Opinion of the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) on the appropriate age range for introduction of complementary feeding into an infant's diet

Abstract

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a public consultation to receive input from the scientific community and all interested parties on the draft Scientific Opinion on the appropriate age range for introduction of complementary feeding into an infant's diet, prepared by the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA Panel) and endorsed by the Panel for public consultation at its Plenary meeting on 14 March 2019. The written public consultation for this document was open from 17 April 2019 to 29 May 2019. EFSA received comments from 68 interested parties. EFSA and its NDA Panel wish to thank all stakeholders for their contributions. This report, which summarises the outcome of the public consultation,includes a brief summary of the comments received and how the comments were addressed. The NDA Panel prepared an updated version of the Scientific Opinion on the appropriate age range for introduction of complementary feeding into an infant's diet in line with the comments received. The Scientific Opinion was discussed and adopted at the NDA Plenary meeting on 3 July 2019 and is published in the EFSA Journal.
