Ad hoc Stakeholder meeting with industry representatives and European Commission on the environmental risk assessment of trace elements

Background

On 16 April 2024, EFSA met delegates from the Norwegian food safety Authority, Norwegian Seafood Federation (NSF), FEFANA and European Commission in the context of an ad hoc meeting with industry representatives.
The meeting aimed to discuss about the environmental risk assessment (ERA) of some trace elements used in animal nutrition. Relevant reasons were raised that would justify issuing a general mandate to evaluate the ERA of trace elements used as feed additives.
In this exercise, sources of available data and the possibility of generating new data were explored. European Commission will prepare a mandate for EFSA to address the ERA of trace elements as feed additives.
