Ad hoc meeting with industry representatives

On 18 January 2019, EFSA met with the delegation of IPA Europe in the context of an EFSA ad hoc meeting with industry representatives.

The meeting provided an opportunity for open exchange of views focussed on scientific aspects to obtain a formal recognition of ‘probiotics’ as a food category (comparable to ‘Dietary fibre’).

The meeting was an opportunity for EFSA to explain and clarify on EFSA remit and role, with focus on scientific substantiation of Health Claims made on foods.
